Machinist Apprentice

Exploits Welding & Machine Shop Ltd. is now accepting applications for an Apprentice Machinist. We are looking for an individual who has a desire to do precision work, learn a trade which is in high demand, and to grow professionally in a career within our company.

Responsibilities:

• Read prints & job orders to determine dimensions and machine set-up
• Set-up and operate various machining equipment such as lathes or mills to machine or grind components to precise customer specifications
• Use measurement tools to ensure accuracy of parts

• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

• Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Completed coursework as a machinist

• Excellent math and mechanical skills/aptitude

• Ability and desire to do precision work

• Previous experience with lathes or mills is preferred, but not required

• Candidates must possess a strong work ethic and exhibit a positive can-do attitude

• Work well unsupervised as well as within a team environment and demonstrate a desire to do precision work and to ensure successful project delivery

• Candidates must be safety conscious and support the Company’s safety, quality and environmental programs
• Candidates must also be willing to work weekends and overtime as required

Assets:

• Completion of safety courses; WHMIS 2015, Forklift Training, Confined Space, Fall Protection, etc.
• Valid Driver’s License
