A day in the role of a Maintenance-Handyman at Devonshire Retirement Residence.
As a Maintenance-Handyman at Devonshire Retirement Residence, you will be given high expectations, as well as an expectation to continue personal growth and professional growth. In this position, you will be gifted with a rewarding experience every day in the form of being able to see the exact impact you place on our residents.
The Maintenance/Handy Man is responsible for maintaining the building and grounds in good operating condition.
This position is responsible for but not limited to:
- General repairs to buildings, equipment and furnishings,
- Following a preventative maintenance program for building, HVAC and fire systems,
- Maintaining grounds and parking areas,
- Refurbishing of suites on Resident turnover,
- Ordering supplies and adherence to operating budget,
- Working in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act,
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills,
- Computer skills an asset,
- Three years’ experience working in a maintenance role in a Retirement Community setting,
- Some training in repair trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC etc.,
- Knowledgeable about the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Retirement Homes Act,
- Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months old, must be able to provide three supervisory references.
