Job Title: Facility Services Team Member

Location: Kamloops YMCA, Kamloops, BC

Reports To: Facility Services Director

Position Type: Part Time

Summary:

The Facility Services Team Member plays a crucial role within the Kamloops Community YMCA, responsible for maintaining the facility, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe and clean environment for members and staff. This position involves a variety of tasks including repair and preventive maintenance assignments for both the building and equipment, handling trash collection and removal, performing general cleaning duties, stocking supplies, receiving deliveries, managing snow removal, and maintaining the exterior grounds of the facility.

Major Responsibilities and Abilities:

Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Kamloops Community YMCA-YWCA policies, standards, and procedures, as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Facility Services Director.

Conduct regular inspections for damages or issues and report findings to the supervisor for attention. Undertake simple repairs and adjustments as necessary.

Adhere to the Preventive Maintenance Schedule, completing assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks for each shift.

Monitor the functioning of building mechanical equipment, taking immediate corrective action in case of malfunctions. If necessary, escalate issues to the Director or supervisor for repairs.

Monitor and record Pool and Whirpool chemical readings, making adjustments to chemical levels as needed. Ensure proper monitoring of chemical tank levels and refill as required.

Ensure proper closing and locking procedures are followed each night to maintain security of the facility.

Maintain all areas of the facility at or above Health and Safety Regulations and Priority SAM Standards at all times.

Complete assigned maintenance and cleaning duties .

Perform any other duties and responsibilities as required to support the smooth operation of the facility.

Qualifications:

This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training available. We are seeking a self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently, coordinate tasks, and adjust work priorities to ensure completion of assignments. The ideal candidate should be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Additional qualifications include:

- Knowledge of building maintenance, equipment maintenance, and cleaning practices is an asset.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to prioritize work and complete necessary duties.

- Knowledge of pool and/or spa maintenance is an asset.

- Grade 12 education or equivalent.

-Emergency First Aid certification required within 6 months of hire.

-Ability to meet and maintain the ongoing physical demands (walking, standing, lifting, push/pull, etc.) of the job, in all types of climates (indoor and outdoor).
