Minimum Qualifications:

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years experience in automotive manufacturing environment as a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent related experience
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment considered an asset
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical components would be considered an asset
  • Proven problem solving ability
  • Able to read blueprints
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and ERP system
  • Ability to work independently and to accommodate flexible shift patterns
  • Working knowledge of Safety Legislations
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be creative and exercise significant initiative
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be a team player with the ability to interact with people at all levels across all departments
  • Valid driver’s license required

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create, update, maintain and work to a scheduled preventative maintenance plan
  • Support Maintenance Manager to ensure that qualified human resources, repair/replacement supplies, and facility or equipment access agreements are planned sufficiently in advance of preventative maintenance events
  • Pass on information, experiences, knowledge and best practices to other maintenance employees with regards to equipment repair, preventative maintenance, problem solving, etc.
  • Support Maintenance Manager to deploy, train, coach, monitor your resources to ensure that the required levels of quality and quantity of workmanship are adhered to
  • Ensure that all activities under your jurisdiction are planned and performed in a safe and law abiding manner
  • Analyze repair reports from both preventative and breakdown teams, along with feedback from the wider MSM operation community, and update equipment/facility work plans to support the transition of reactive tasks to predictive and preventive tasks.
  • Ensure that an effective preventive and predictive maintenance system is in place and is clearly understood by the members of the Maintenance team
  • Maintain documentation on all equipment, building infrastructure, etc. such as machine manuals, electric circuit diagrams, hydraulic-pneumatic circuit diagrams, assembly drawings, spare part lists, preventative / predictive work orders / instructions
  • Support Maintenance Manager with equipment downtime and equipment related cost reports in order to focus on cost reduction
  • Participate in benchmarking of new tooling and equipment
  • Assist Maintenance Manager with monthly budget
  • Support Maintenance Manager to develop strategic short and long term maintenance plans
  • Support the development of Maintenance specific and non specific work instructions exist
  • Ensure effective, non-repetitive problem solving that results in updates to the preventative maintenance system targeted at eliminating repeat failures
  • Support participation in 8D’s, Non-conformance Systems. Special teams, etc.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant trade standards of best practice in all work carried out by the team improvements
  • Ensure that plant efficiency is maintained at the highest possible level, without sacrificing safety, quality or cost standards
  • Provide adherence to MSM systems as required
  • Support Environmental initiatives related to ISO 14001
  • Support CI initiatives of the manufacturing team
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager or his/her designees
  • Actively and positively support the continued practice of Core Values behaviours
