Position Available: Maintenance & Housekeeping Technician (Child

Development)

Hours: 40 hours per week, salaried position

Flexible schedule required

Benefits:

3 weeks paid vacation (per calendar year)

Position Overview

Reporting to the V.P. of Child and Youth Services, this position will be responsible for daily maintenance and cleaning of all areas included in the Vaughn Harvey childcare, and afterschool licensed programs. This will include, but is not limited to, routine inspections, logs and repairs of all associated child development equipment, grounds, housekeeping and maintenance. Fulfillment of work orders and responding to emergencies is included in the scope of work.

Duties:

To ensure the Child Development’s Center integrity in an as new state. The duties outlined under maintenance and housekeeping are applicable to all classrooms, hallways, common areas and outdoor child development areas.

Maintenance

  • Maintaining work order logs, material requirements and specific scope of work required to correct fault or defects beyond the scope of the normal preventive maintenance routine. The standard of maintenance, repairs or modifications will be achieved by performing checks and replacing, adjusting and modifying worn or faulty equipment to ensure standard of performance.
  • Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance and cleaning inspections.
  • Performing repairs/painting and/or patching as required on walls, doors and equipment to ensure a clean and appealing look.
  • Performing basic electrical troubleshooting and small repairs as required to light switches and outlets.
  • Performing basic plumbing repairs.
  • Inspecting and maintaining all equipment and associated systems based on both a scheduled and unscheduled basis to determine the extent of repairs required. Visually checking equipment to determine it is maintained and serviced for safe operation.
  • This position is responsible for all outdoor lawn and snow removal maintenance for child development areas.

Housekeeping

  • This position is responsible for servicing, cleaning and supplying all restrooms, classrooms, offices and common areas.
  • Cleaning floors by means of sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. Stripping and waxing floors as required.
  • Cleaning, damp wiping and polishing all fixtures, baseboard, moldings and vinyl furniture.
  • Cleaning windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
  • Dusting furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; dusting all horizontal surfaces within reach.
  • Mixing water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
  • Following procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

· Clear vulnerable sector, Criminal record Check and Childcare SD check

· Experience using a tiller, snow blower, floor buffer and lawn maintenance tools

· Able to work flexible hours

· Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR

· WHMIS
