Maintenance Lead & Handyman

Point of Mara Resort, a family run campground / trailer park in Brechin on Lake Simcoe, is looking to fill a General Maintenance Lead / Handyman for this upcoming summer season (April-October) or full-time.

Who we are looking for: a person with maintenance experience who is responsible for keeping the campground’s operations, buildings, and equipment in good repair.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting routine inspections of buildings, equipment and water/septic systems
• Performing repairs & preventative maintenance to keep buildings and systems in good condition including basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, dry walling, painting, and other maintenance-related tasks.
• Perform basic mechanical repairs and general maintenance to equipment & power tools including lawn tractors, blowers, trimmers, chainsaws, etc.
• Operate vehicles such as tractors for lawn maintenance and upkeep of grounds a requirement and larger machinery such as backhoes, skidsteers, man lifts, is a bonus!
• Use power tools for various general maintenance projects (trailer & deck leveling, maintenance/fixing, etc.)
• Diagnosing and correcting mechanical issues as they arise
• Reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisors immediately and determining a course of action to resolve
• Maintain a clean work environment
• Engage in physically demanding activities such as yard maintenance and heavy lifting.
• Work closely with Supervisor to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient completion.

Qualifications & Skills

• Knowledge of light basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, dry walling, painting, and other maintenance-related tasks.
• Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain)
• Effective communication skills, speaking, listening and responding
• Ability to work as part of a team and interact with customers with a positive attitude
• Knowledge of operating heavy equipment (backhoes, skidsteers, tractors) an asset
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow and take direction from Supervisors/Managers
• Ideal candidate will have a valid G license
