Maintenance Operator
(Competition #25/24, permanent, part-time, 0.6 FTE)
Under the direction of the Director, Facilities Infrastructure and Services, the Maintenance Operator performs tasks related to the overall upkeep, environment and security of library property and buildings. The position carries out a range of minor repairs and installations not requiring certification status. The position involves shift work and independent, unsupervised time and can be physically demanding. The position provides other maintenance-related support services throughout the library system and liaises with a broad spectrum of internal clients.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school graduation. Building Systems Technician certificate an asset.
- Firemans certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, drywall and flooring repair.
- Knowledge of boiler safety and WHIMIS regulations combined with a basic understanding of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Ability to set priorities and multi-task.
- Demonstrated ability to inspect and operate motorized equipment.
- Class 5 drivers license required. Possess and maintain a clean driving record.
- Physical capacity to carry out the demands of the position.
- Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, responsibly and co-operatively with other employees and contractors, and be able to meet project objectives and timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
