THE POSITION
The Maintenance Team member will directly report to the Maintenance Supervisor. Along with our Maintenance staff the Team member will work collaboratively with our staff maintaining 39 buildings within the Prairie Spirit School Division. The Maintenance Department works closely with, and forms an integral part of, a strong Division team providing shared, critical leadership within our educational community. This CUPE position starts May 1, 2024. The starting salary for this position is $21.88 per hour for non-Journeypersons.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will:
Have a wide range of skills in carpentry, commercial hardware, building, and general construction;
Have, or be willing to work towards obtaining, a Firemans Certificate and WHMIS;
Have general knowledge of all aspects of building maintenance;
Have the ability to complete physically demanding tasks relevant to the position;
Have several years of successful experience in one or more of the above-mentioned areas;
Possess a valid drivers license.
Preference will be given to applicants who hold a valid Journeyperson certificate. The starting salary would be adjusted to reflect this qualification.
In addition, the candidate should:
Be a strong TEAM MEMBER and good communicator;
Be well-planned and well-organized;
Show evidence of being a life-long learner;
Be flexible and willing to take on new challenges.
