Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician Lead is responsible for preventive and unscheduled maintenance of machinery, equipment and building structure.

Job Duties
▪ Perform scheduled preventive and emergency maintenance on machines and other equipment through the shop.
▪ Perform mechanical upkeep and upgrading of the work environment in the shop and office.
▪ Do a monthly walk around inside the building and around property to identify any repairs or maintenance required.
▪ To follow preventative maintenance schedule to identify potential problems on equipment and take necessary action to avoid major breakdowns.
▪ Strictly adhere to machine safety manuals for maintenance and repairs instructions to avoid injury to self or others.
▪ Supervising and leading all maintenance processes and operations.

▪ Maintain logbook with all necessary details of work performed or findings.
▪ Ensure work is done to all provincial safety codes and regulations. Oversee work of outside contractors.
▪ Ensure that all necessary parts are available before the machine is worked on to avoid going out for last minute purchases.
▪ Planning and managing all repairs and installation activities
▪ Ensuring all the tools needed are in good condition.
▪ Ensure all required services and maintenance are completed as scheduled with little or no machine downtime.
▪ Respond to emergency repairs immediately to avoid work stoppage.
▪ Look for opportunities to provide assistance in other areas when not busy.
▪ Collaborate with supervisor and co-workers to gain information on repairs needed.
▪ Exchange information and knowledge on issues encountered.
▪ Communicate safety or maintenance issues to Managers.
▪ Maintain positive and productive working relationships with supervisor, other shop employees, and office staff.
▪ Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and policies as outlined in the Company Health and

Safety manual to prevent workplace injuries including using personal protective equipment, using protective devises on equipment, performing all pre-use inspections as required, follow lockout procedures, and report all injuries.

▪ Follow all plant safety rules.
▪ Follow all company rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook▪ Supervising and leading all maintenance processes and operations.
▪ Follow departmental processes required by ISO and actively participate in recommending improvements

Job Requirements (Education, Knowledge & Skill)
▪ High school with some post-secondary technical training in mechanical trades
▪ Certificate of Qualification as Maintenance and Industrial Mechanic Millwright
▪ 5 years’ experience in industrial equipment maintenance

▪ Good understanding of the technical features of plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
▪ Knowledge of all applicable safety codes and regulations.
▪ Ability to use precision measuring tools to calibrate machines (precision machinery level, dial indicator)
▪ Ability to safely operate Forklifts, Cranes and Scissor lift.
▪ Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components and assemblies in machine tools, understanding of how they work and how they are maintained, repaired, or replaced.
▪ Basic knowledge of structural and mechanical maintenance on buildings.
▪ Ability to read mechanical blueprints, hydraulic diagrams, air schematics and electrical drawings.
▪ Excellent organization and leadership abilities.
▪ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Conditions & Physical Demands
▪ Normal for an industrial heavy metal manufacturing environment.
▪ Works with heavy parts, near moving mechanical parts, and material handling equipment.
▪ Environment can be noisy and there is a risk of injury while machine is being tested.
▪ Hot environment during summer season

Other:
▪ Required to have own basic tools. (vernier, tape measure, set of wrenches and sockets, electric tester, small power tools (hand drill), screwdrivers, Allen keys).
▪ Ability to work occasional weekend and/or evening as necessary to do emergency maintenance and repairs.
