Job Description
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Maintenance Specialist, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for repair and maintenance of our Nursery. This includes any and all things related to the farm; greenhouses, equipment, site buildings vehicles and everything in between! You can expect everyday to be a little different from the last, with varying tasks and challenges. The Maintenance Worker will have a high level of safety awareness and be competent in assessing the safety requirements needed to successfully complete projects while minimizing risk to the crops being produced. They will understand what tasks they can perform within their wheel-house, work with management to outsource or bring in experts when required. This is a part-time position. Depending on interest and availability, candidates will have the opportunity for additional hours with Forest Nursery production work.
Key Responsibilities:
Working under the direction of the Maintenance Specialist, the Maintenance Worker will be responsible for the following:
- Adhere to safety regulations in compliance with Saskatchewan Workers Compensation Board
- Ensure all equipment, facilities, and vehicles are kept in safe, reliable working condition while maintaining a clean, orderly work area
- Implement a site-wide preventative maintenance program
- Perform time sensitive emergency repairs to irrigation and nursery equipment when required
- Troubleshoot and repair systems including, but not limited to electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical
- Provide input to management and gather information for the completion of maintenance projects
- Maintain spare parts inventory and order parts
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:
- Be highly motivated and able to work independently
- Demonstrate a high level of sound judgment and reasoning
- Possess a high school diploma. Certificates or training in electrical, pneumatic, heavy equipment or welding and fabricating are an asset
- Experience in a maintenance role including carpentry and basic welding
- Possess a valid drivers license
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
