- Implement the Employee Relations Strategy and recommend modifications from a risk-informed perspective. Develop and implement related programs and policies that support Potash and Jansen Stage 1 in line with the Charter, Our Requirements, and Jansen Operational Strategy.
- Ensure delivery of the detailed 5-year Employee Relations plan in support of the strategy across all HR sub-functions, and support or manage any preparation, research and analysis required to achieve the strategy.
- Advise and train human resources professionals and leaders on regulatory requirements, policies, legislation and best practices.
- Prepare information for use during meetings with key stakeholders including support for potential agreement negotiations, economic issues, work rules and practices, dispute resolution Human Rights complaints, wrongful dismissal complaints, and internal harassment complaints.
- Provide advice on dispute resolution and ensure timely resolution of issues and complaints.
- Provide expert advice to all levels of management on the proper handling of workplace issues including terminations, discipline, and disputes to ensure timely resolution.
- Manage negotiations, provide leadership in negotiation and interpretation, and understand the meaning and the implications of decisions and actions for the labour force.
- Represent the organization at related hearings and investigations including facilitation of negotiations of agreements in consultation with line managers.
- Lead the Employee Relations subfunction representation in global or regional projects, defining and coordinating ER team members involvement as needed.
- Lead the use of the risk framework to manage existing and impending risks.
- Oversee the internal investigation cases assigned to ER according to our general framework. Ensure the process is continuously improved and reporting is timely.
- Human Resources Experience - 15+ years of diverse Human Resources experience within a global/national industrial organization of scale. Cross functional HR experience where deep analytical skills were developed.
- Labour Relations Expertise - Extensive knowledge of labour relations within industry in Canada, and Saskatchewan. Hands-on knowledge and experience in unionized collective bargaining, negotiations, mediation and facilitation generating win/win solutions and a reputation for maintaining positive relations with various client groups. Strong track record of strategically formulating and negotiating unionized collective bargaining strategies.
- Industry Knowledge - This individual will ideally bring experience from the industrial sector including, but limited to, the mining, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, forestry, power/utilities, transportation and/or oil & gas industries.
- Stakeholder Management Skills - This person will have a strong network across a diverse set of regulatory, union, association, and Employee Relations circles with a robust reputation and an excellent track record of broader stakeholder activity. Strong influencing skills with an ability to interface across the entire organization to develop and drive an overarching labour relations agenda and strategy.
- Major Projects Experience - Experience in major capital projects spanning different phases would be considered an asset.
- Education - Undergraduate degree in a related field (Human Resources, Labour Relations, Commerce) or equivalent experience is required. An advanced degree, such as an MBA or a Master’s, would be considered an asset. Any other relevant professional qualifications (CHRP etc.) will also be considered an asset.
