Overview
OWZW Lawyers LLP is an established, full-service law firm in Regina, SK. We are looking for a Manager, Finance and Administration to join our senior management team. As a member of the leadership team, you will provide leadership to a suite of administrative and support functions that make a value-added contribution to the effective performance of the firm. Key corporate functions include: financial services, effective management of people, facilities, IT and Administration.
Our ideal candidate will be an effective, experienced, results-oriented individual who can support and lead the firm in operational planning, financial management and people leadership with a high level of discretion.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the financial operations including developing financial policies and procedures, providing strategic and operational accounting advice.
Responsible for maintaining financial records, including operational budgets, reconciliation and preparation of monthly and year-end financial reports and applicable tax filings.
Provide leadership and oversight to ensure professional regulatory compliance with Law Society of Saskatchewan rules and regulations.
Considerable interaction with outsourced IT professionals to ensure the effective implementation and operation of critical IT systems.
Provide leadership and advice in all areas of HR including workforce planning, performance management and recognition, benefits administration and payroll.
As a member of the leadership team, participate in financial and HR committees. Organize and oversee meetings while preparing and distributing meeting notices, agendas and materials.
Manage day-to-day operation of facilities including space allocation, maintenance and security issues.
Seek innovative solutions to support continuous improvement in all areas of the firm’s functions.
Qualifications
Knowledge and skills required for this position would typically be obtained through CPA designation and 5 - 10 years of related business experience with preference given to those with experience in the legal industry.
· CPA designation
· Exceptional analytical, decision-making and communication skills along with well-developed people skills
· Ability to establish and sustain effective relationships at all levels of the firm as well as external suppliers, contacts, governing bodies and firm clients
· Ability to articulate strategic and operational improvements
· Computer literacy of Office 365 products and integrated client management and financial system (ie PCLaw)
· Demonstrated knowledge of relevant standards, acts and regulations.
