The salary offered for this role is determined with consideration to various factors, including but not limited to: your work location, local labour market conditions, external market salary data, internal pay equity and the knowledge, skills, experience and anticipated proficiency in the role. The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $105,000- $120,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Manager, Financial Reporting is responsible for the preparation of financial statements, preparation of various analysis and ensuring compliance with IFRS. The Manager, Financial Reporting conducts research, performs analysis and makes recommendations on complex accounting issues.


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Prepares the annual draft financial statements and notes disclosure ensuring compliance with IFRS standards
  • Conducts research on IFRS accounting standards, developments and assesses their related impact and makes recommendations
  • Accountable for the monthly and quarterly variance analysis on financial statements
  • Manages, maintains, develops and documents internal controls for ICOFR purposes
  • Assists in the design and testing of financial reports
  • Conducts analysis and makes recommendations on complex accounting issues
  • Provides supervision and guidance to reports and Co-op summer student(s)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University degree and professional accounting designation i.e. CPA
  • 5 years post-qualification experience, public accounting experience is highly valued
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively deliver presentations
  • Expert knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
  • Ability to research accounting standards and apply practical solutions to accounting issues, assessing impact on all areas of the business
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills, initiative and ability to work independently
  • P&C insurance industry experience a definite asset with CIP designation
  • Experience using PeopleSoft Financials desirable
