The Manager Policy & Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs contributes to the overall success of Government Affairs through research, monitoring, writing and advocacy to support to the goals, plans and initiatives of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
-Conduct detailed research and analysis of complex business and Public Policy issues, concisely synthesizing large amounts of information and communicating summaries, positions and recommendations in simple, concrete terms.
-Contribute to the development and response of Bank-wide Public Policy objectives, by working with internal and external stakeholders to identify and assess policy and regulatory trends and threats in countries with Bank operations. 
-Develop and implement strategic and tactical plans and responses to policy developments in light of Bank and government priorities across the Bank’s footprint and areas of focus.
-Manage relations with the Canadian Bankers Association (CBA) and support senior executive and senior management officers with committee work. Support engagement with other industry bodies as needed.
-Collaborate with team members in providing an integrated perspective: leading and developing briefing materials, policy analysis, research and integrated counsel that combines policy and political analysis.
-Leads and executes on behalf of senior management the implementation of the Regulatory Change Management program. Assures that the RCM program is maintained in a manner that is tailored to the needs of each business activity, appropriate to control regulatory compliance risk and applicable considering any changing circumstances and regulatory compliance risks.

-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation and meeting skills
-Exceptional analytic and research skills balanced with pragmatism and a sense of urgency, often in time sensitive scenarios. 
-Must build and leverage strategic relationships both internally and externally with relevant stakeholders.
-Primary external stakeholders include government (both political and government officials) as well as industry associations and relevant stakeholders in Canada and across global operations
-There is a high level of complexity, related specialized knowledge and external relationships that stem from the increasing need to assess and influence policy internationally as well as in Canada.
-Need for knowledge of Public Policy and financial sector policy development, as well as technical knowledge of the regulatory process and a wide range of policy issues would be key.
-Experience in Government Affairs and Public Policy
-Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.
-Extensive experience and skills in research and Public Policy development, especially as it relates to Government Affairs.
-Strong research and analytical skills.
-Demonstrated stakeholder management skills.
-Strong writing and editing skills.
-Ability to learn complex issues quickly, and communicate them effectively in plain language.
