Manager/Partner Team - Bakery, Bistro and Coffee Shop

We are known for our great selection of Baked Goods, Sandwiches, Savories, Pastries and assorted delectable snacks, coffees and soft drinks. The shop has a casual breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon bistro atmosphere where many patrons can purchase displayed offerings or pick-up previously ordered combinations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for an experienced bakery/bistro manager or partner team to overtake a variety of responsibilities and duties such as in house marketing strategies, recruiting and hiring staff, training, overseeing food quality, help develop and execute new product menus as well as greeting and serving our guests. This is a position for a mature minded individual that is looking for stability and job security but also wants to create new baked and bistro delectables which excite our loyal customers and visitors .
A hands-on as necessary approach to this establishment should be part of the fun with this position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Co-ordinates/aligns back room, bistro and shop activities with Master Baker including, food prep and service staff to consistently offer professional, friendly, warm and engaging service. Ensures dining room service and sales activity flows consistently, along food production guidelines, and to minimize order and pick-up delays.
  • Manages, along with master baker, bakery supplies and sandwich, salad, soup etc. inventory and updates to menu/product card and point of sales system.
  • Assumes responsibility for all equipment, inventories, supplies, furniture and fixtures assigned to the shop and bistro area while addressing cleanliness, repair and maintenance deficiencies.
  • Effective performance management through focus on colleague development training, problem resolution, maintaining up-to-date records on performance, attendance, grooming, service deficiencies, schedules, labor costs/payroll, and late/absenteeism.
  • Ensures highest levels of productivity through proactive staff planning, hiring, scheduling and payroll reporting. Maintains, orients and trains front of house staff based on current service protocol standards and conducts daily pre and post shop hour period briefings.
  • Oversees cash out procedures including voids and balancing and is primary key holder and contact person.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS – preferably 2-3 years’ management experience.

  • college degree in restaurant/hotel field or equivalent experience (culinary management)
  • very good English (working knowledge of French and other European languages is also preferred)
  • must possess a general knowledge of food and beverage procedures and administration.
  • must be able to move quickly and stand for up to four hours at a time and lift trays of up to 25lbs
  • problem solving communication skills
  • must be Smart Serve certified.

Salary/Wages:

  • Monthly salary or hourly wage would be commensurate with experience. In addition, a bonus gain sharing system, based on improved sales/profits and cost reductions could be part of the compensation package.
