Your Impact at Empire
As a valued team member of our Market Garden Field Crew, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of Empire’s Canfield Regenerative Farm in Canfield, ON. Your primary responsibility will be to support the cultivation, maintenance and harvesting of our Market Garden, catering to our Community Support Agriculture (CSA) program and farm visitors.
Role Location & Scheduling
This full-time seasonal role spans from the beginning of May to the end of October. Located among picturesque landscapes in Canfield, Ontario, our regenerative farm offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in sustainable agriculture practices.
What we are looking for:
  • Previous farming, landscaping, or related experience
  • Passion for organic produce, agriculture, and sustainability
  • Love for the outdoors – ability to work in all kinds of weather conditions
Bonus if you have these skills:
  • Education in organic agriculture or regenerative farming practices
  • Problem solving skills specific to crop production
  • Ability to apply generally known methods of pest management
What you’ll be doing each day
  • Field work including compost spreading, weeding, direct seeding, and transplanting
  • Harvesting & washing vegetables
  • Assisting with weekly packing of custom CSA share orders
  • Maintaining clean and organized workstations
  • Pruning and trellising hoophouse tomatoes and cucumbers
  • Pest management and irrigation
  • Kitchen prep and preserving harvest for winter use
