Working in partnership with utilities, governments, Indigenous Nations, and other industry partners we reduce energy poverty, accelerate decarbonization, and improve housing in traditionally underserved communities across Canada and the United States.

Kambo delivers three in-house programs: Empower Me, Community Power, and the Home Upgrades Program.


Empower Me delivers multilingual education, support, and coaching services to ensure underrepresented communities have access to energy, climate, and home retrofit programs.


Community Power supports Indigenous and Tribal Nations to build, renovate, and improve community housing.


Home Upgrades Program provides fully subsidized energy retrofits to improve affordability for households living in energy poverty.


About the opportunity

The Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the execution of Kambo’s Marketing and Community Outreach initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing brand presence in local communities, forging and maintaining relationships with new community partners, creating marketing materials for digital and print purposes, tracking analytics across digital platforms, and more.


Community outreach

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships across diverse communities.
  • Engage and educate key stakeholders, including public and private organizations, non-profits, and local communities, about our organization and initiatives.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to attend and speak at third-party events and liaise with organizers as needed.
  • Help drive print and digital marketing campaigns to increase public awareness of our organization’s in-house initiatives.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to Energy Mentors engaged in program outreach.
  • Engage with clients to develop testimonials and share their stories.

Marketing

  • Assist in the creation of written, video, and image content for various marketing channels, including email campaigns, digital and prints ads, website, social media, and more.
  • Ensure key messages and brand positioning are culturally sensitive and align across a wide range of marketing materials and in-person engagements.
  • Support the marketing team in completing daily administrative tasks.
  • Publish content to social media platforms and company blogs.
  • Monitor and report campaign results.
  • Conduct market research in support of developing strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Participate in marketing brainstorming sessions.
  • Collaborate and liaise with graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and other creative professionals as needed.

Your exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with your high level of organization, make you adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Your ambition extends beyond personal goals, as you possess a strong awareness of local community groups and a genuine desire to engage with them. Your out-of-the-box thinking and passion for storytelling sets you apart, allowing you to bring a unique perspective to your work. Your commitment to building relationships and driving marketing campaigns is also evident in your proactive approach, including effective follow-up and confident cold calling or emailing.


Requirements and skills:

  • A bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or other related discipline.
  • Experience working with community organizations.
  • A portfolio with writing samples.
  • Excellent computer skills. Canva, Adobe CC, HubSpot, and Microsoft Office are among the tools we use.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends as needed to capture content and connect with the community.
  • Pre-existing relationships with local organizations are considered an asset.
