MATERIAL HANDLER
The production team has a place for you!
The regular schedule is 6:30 a.m. to 17:00 p.m., Monday to Thursday for a total of 40 hours per week
THE CHALLENGE
The incumbent handles, moves, loads and unloads materials and finished products using various handling devices.
YOUR DAILY
- Organizes storage, handling and loading on a daily basis according to the information sent by the production department (monitoring, meeting deadlines)
- Collaborates with the department director in establishing procedures and tools to improve operations and control
- Compiles data for inventory and quantity management
- Unloads material from delivery vehicles using appropriate handling equipment and store them in prescribed locations
- Records and maintains the list of tanks to be shipped
- Operates the forklift safely
- Works in conjunction with the production, customer service and quality control departments
- Perform checks before using the equipment making sure that it is in good condition and clean
- Performs other duties related to handling, such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing and unpacking various products and / or materials.
- Performs their tasks while respecting the occupational health and safety rules in the company
- Is concerned about his own safety and that of others (health and safety)
- May be called upon to train new employees
- Contributes to the collective effort of the department and the company
- Participates in department meetings
- Shares new ideas for improvement with his team
- Performs any other related task at the request of his supervisor
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
- DES - high school diploma (an asset)
- 2-5 years of relevant experience as a Material handler in an industrial environment
- Able to communicate in English and French
- Forklift Driver's Certificate
- Overhead crane training card
- Can lift and move weights up to 25 kg
- Able to move frequently, bend, stand for long periods of time
- Able to follow clear instructions
- Great listening and communication skills
- Able to work with tight deadlines
- Organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of the steel industry - a definite asset
