Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is an 84 bed hospital located in Collingwood, Ontario (approximately 90 minutes north of Toronto) that serves more than 74,000 permanent residents and 3.5 Million annual visitors to the communities of Wasaga Beach, Collingwood, Clearview and the Blue Mountains. CGMH is an acute care hospital providing emergency care, diagnostic services including lab, imaging and cardio respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units (medicine and surgery). In addition, CGMH also provides care in specialty areas including obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care and surgery. The Hospital also provides out patient care including dialysis and a wide range of clinics including mental health and rehabilitation services. CGMH continues to provide care close to home for our community and plays a key role as an integrated orthopaedic centre for our region. The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Procurement, the Materials Management Associate is responsible for maintaining adequate supply levels within the JIT cart system as well as the ordering, receiving and distribution of JIT supplies. They process purchase orders for stock and non-stock items, and coordinate loaner equipment orders and equipment repairs. They receive and distribute incoming goods and issue inventory items. They are responsible for electronic receiving and ordering through Materials Management applications. They respond to internal and external administrative queries and monitor back up stock and stock expiry dates.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience working in a Healthcare Materials Management capacity including: Inventory control, stores, shipping and receiving
  • Completion or enrollment in Supply Chaim Management Canada (SCMA) Courses preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Broader Public Sector Procurement (BPS) Directives considered an asset
  • Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the JIT Cart System, maintaining adequate/appropriate supplies according to an established schedule of par level review and confers with supplier to add, replace or remove items as needed
  • Maintains Stores inventory and back-up stock
  • Monitors back-up stock expiry dates and issues, reorders as necessary
  • Processes purchase orders for non-stock and stock items for all hospital departments, ensuring all requisitions are appropriately and utilizing GPO or SSW contracts wherever possible
  • Monitors order confirmations regarding pricing and back-orders and makes appropriate adjustments
  • Oversees loading and unloading of goods and using hydraulic lift; Operates hand-truck to load/unload and transport goods
  • Inspects and verifies incoming goods against purchase orders, records shortages, rejects
  • Distributes goods and mail to appropriate departments, storage areas or mail slots
  • Receives and distributes JIT Cart System orders to appropriate departments
  • Responds to internal supply and shipping queries in a cordial and timely manner
  • Packing & Shipping of items for returns and repair including preparation of return documents and bills of lading
  • Processes orders for surgical loaner sets, equipment purchases and repairs, including obtaining quotes, processing purchase orders, and scheduling
  • Receives and delivers controlled substances and completes required documentation
  • Responsible for yearend physical inventory count. Processes adjustments on inventory system and verifies balances.
  • Assists with identification of supply needs and available alternatives including STAT or emergency supplies.

Wage: $31.44 - $31.83 per hour
