In your role, you will:
  • Provide technical engineering guidance as necessary to designers, structural engineers, technical writers, liaison engineers, customer support, Quality, buyers and laboratory staff on the applications, properties and processing of aircraft materials and hardware.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, change documentation, certification plans and release documentation pursuant to technical engineering modifications/specifications for materials in general.
  • Take part in design reviews with internal Product Development Teams and others, when requested.
  • Support on-going continuous improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through relevant engineering, process, and other capability improvements.
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of various Engineering documents dealing with aircraft materials and their processing, such as company material specifications.
  • Review production process documents prepared by other functions and recommended for engineering approval.
  • Prepare, administer and approve standard technical engineering practices, procedures, design guidelines and corporate/site specific standards contained in Bombardier Manuals
  • Keep abreast with current materials and hardware technology and development, suitable for use in company products, through contacts with various external agencies.

Qualifications
As our ideal candidate,
  • You have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Materials, Mechanical or Chemical engineering from an accredited university
  • You have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in an aerospace/military production environment
  • You have or be eligible for Professional Engineers of Ontario professional designation
  • You have a thorough knowledge of aerospace materials with experience in standard hardware and processes used for the manufacture of aircraft.
  • You are knowledgeable about typical military and/or aerospace industry standards such as MIL specs, Federal regulations, CMH-17, ASTM, ISO and SAE specifications.
  • You are proficient in engineering design principles and reviewing drawings.
  • You are adept at solving engineering problems in a high-pressure environment and can deal with complex issues quickly and independently
  • You have pro-active mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English. French will be considered an asset.
  • You have excellent interpersonal skills and a high sense of commitment.
  • You must be able to work in a team environment and collaborate with Technical Experts, Professionals and Technicians on a daily basis
  • You are proficient with CATIA V5 and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
