Whitecap Resources Inc. (“Whitecap”) is an intermediate-size oil-weighted growth company that pays a monthly cash dividend to its shareholders while being recognized for storing more CO2 annually than we emit corporately.

Job Title: Measurement Specialist
Location: Western Saskatchewan

Field Office TBD (Swift Current, Kerrobert)
Travel Required: To field locations, as necessary

Reporting to: Team Lead, Field Measurement

Position Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting our operations teams in applying processes identified by our measurement program/guidelines to the field setting. Duties include assisting to establish the measurement program at the field level, collecting source documentation to create and maintain databases, and ensuring field participation in following regulatory/EPAP guidelines.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate efforts with our Team Lead, Field Measurement; Production Technologists; and field leadership teams to ensure successful implementation of our measurement program.

▪ Provide training for field staff regarding measurement processes and controls.

▪ Aid in investigating and troubleshooting measurement/proration issues.

▪ Work with our operations teams to prepare, audit, and update measurement schematics as required.

  • Provide support for EPAP certification program.

▪ Assist in the implementation of measurement processes at the field level.

▪ Ensure program compliance at the field level.

▪ Update documentation as required.

  • Provide oversight & support for our Fuel.Flare.Vent manager program (Envirosoft)
  • Work with our meter calibration software management tool (ProTrend): scheduling assistance, validation support, and program audits.
  • Work with our fluid analysis software management tool (ProTrend): scheduling assistance, validation support, 3rd party analysis retrieval, and program audits.
  • Provide regulatory expertise & recommendations for design, construction, and application of measurement systems for the operations and engineering teams.
  • Assist with compilation of data for 3rd party and regulatory site audits.
  • Assist our Production Technologists with management and administration of FDC System

(Production Manager).

  • Act as a liaison between the production accounting and field operations groups to ensure adequate processes and communication tools are in place for accurate and timely reporting.
  • Work with the full Measurement & Automation team on acquisition integration activities and dispositions.
  • Assist in the development of training material for all disciplines.
  • Support health, safety, environmental, and regulatory behaviors / requirements through day-to- day activities that demonstrate adherence to Whitecap’s policies.
  • Conduct field visits to develop relationships with our field operations teams.
  • Attend ongoing training to further personal development.

Primary Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience
  • Strong understanding of Western Canadian measurement regulations, including AER
  • D17/D76/D07/D60, ECON PNG017/PNG076/PNG036, BC OGC Measurement Guideline
  • Excellent working knowledge of operations systems including: FDC systems (Production Manager,
  • PVR & Avocet, ProdView), Petrinex, ZediAccess, Data Scavenger, SCADA, Metrix, and ProStream.
  • Operations experience and knowledge in SCADA or SQL is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
  • Self-starter, motivated to initiate projects, and analyze innovative solutions to business challenges.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite)
  • Must be able to work in Canada
