Job description

A Mechanical Maintainer Lead Hand is responsible for leading a group of employees in one or more classification, and to co-ordinate all phases of the work in the group.

What will you be doing!
  • Lead a group of employees in one or more classification, and to co-ordinate all phases of the work in the group.
  • Carry out instructions from the Supervisor by directing the work of others and ensure they are working efficiently.
  • Responsible for ensuring that those being supervised understand and follow all applicable rules and regulations, including work hours, plant safety and health rules, and procedures.
  • Ensure good housekeeping is practiced in the working area.
  • Assist in the training of apprentices or other employees as required.
What we are looking for:
  • At least equal to the classification mainly concerned, but Secondary School preferred.
  • Must be fully qualified in the classification mainly concerned, and have some years of subsequent practical experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of the work of the trade concerned.
  • Must be skilled in the performance of the work of the trade mainly concerned.
  • Must possess the ability to interpret and to follow instructions.
  • Must have the ability to assign, supervise, and inspect the work of the trade concerned.
  • Must possess a sense of responsibility and the ability to work without direct supervision

Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security”.
