Job description

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta, serving the education needs of approximately 17,750 students in 42 schools. Elk Island Public Schools is recruiting a Jr/Sr High Mechanics Teacher at Vegreville Composite High. Please include all teachable subject areas and courses in your cover letter/resume. Additional FTE may depend on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience. FTE could be between 0.287 - 1.0.

Vegreville Composite High serves approximately 370 students in grades 7 to 12, with 20 teaching staff and seven support staff. The school is located in Vegreville, AB, approximately 90 kilometres east of Sherwood Park, AB.

Vegreville Composite High prepares each student to contribute fully to the community by developing responsibility, respect and a desire for lifelong learning. The school encourages the continual striving for excellence based on the premise that every student has the potential to learn.

Commencing August 27, 2024

Open to internal and external applicants, priority will be given to EIPS teachers who hold a continuous contract and meet the minimum requirements of the position

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education degree

Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate

Effective organization and classroom management skills

Ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged

Excellent verbal and written skills

Experience or familiarity analyzing data and using data to inform decisions and/or instruction

Strong collaboration and teamwork skills

Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice

Relentless drive to set and achieve personal and professional goals

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
