Situation:

The YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia is a registered charity dedicated to promoting growth of our people in Spirit, Mind and Body. As a charitable organization, the YMCA invests all of its resources in the provision of programs and services focused on the wellness, health and fitness, child care and personal development needs of all.

Nature and Scope:

The YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia requires a Membership Sales Staff to work as part of a team to provide a safe and clean facility for all members as per YMCA SAM Standards.

This position requires an enthusiastic, energetic, qualified, self-motivated, independent individual. Membership Sales Staff will work flexible part time schedule depending on availability, programming needs and staffing requirements.

Membership Sales Staff will report directly to the Centre Manager and work collaboratively to advance the Strategic Directions of the YMCA of Southwest Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will demonstrate personal commitment to, and understanding of the YMCA’s mission, vision and values.

Qualifications:

The individual will have a diverse skill set including, but not limited to, relationship building, program delivery and self-management. Additional qualifications include:

  • WHMIS
  • Current First Aid, CPR
  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills
  • Completion of a police records check/vulnerable sector-screening request and child abuse registry will be submitted for review prior to starting employment
  • Adherence to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures

Responsibilities:

CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING

  • Adherence to the YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training in areas pertaining to Child Protection.

CONTINUED EDUCATION

  • Stay current in CPR/First Aid and WHIMIS training.

PROGRAMMATIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcome members into the facility
  • Enter membership clients into the scan computer
  • Review program information with members
  • Enforce and be a role model of relationship building in the facility.
  • Follow scope of practice guidelines. For example: personal views, biomechanical assessments and nutritional planning are not permitted.
  • Maintain client retention as per best practice and goal setting.
  • Respond to all injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures.
  • Keep facility areas organized, clean, and inviting.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance to membership services area
  • Maintain cleanliness of entry floors and hallways
  • Maintain cleanliness of desk area
  • Check washrooms for paper products and cleanliness
  • Lead security checks, facility cloth changing and laundry schedule.
  • Communicate and document maintenance, custodial, or security issues to appropriate supervisor following Best Practices.
  • Educate members; adhere to, and enforce, all policies and procedures.

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide support to the Centre Manager as needed and assigned.
  • Follow Best Practices for shift procedures.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with staff and visitors to our facility.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 20 per week

Experience:
