The Position:
BDS is looking for an experienced Mobile Crane/Picker Truck Operator with a valid class 1 license. The operator is an integral member of the team who will be operating a 45 ton and/or 70-ton picker truck. You will be responsible for assisting with transportation and placement of loads and materials used in Pipeline construction. Following company and client policies and procedures, safety and efficiency matter to you.
The Location:
The position will be based out of our Camrose location. Local candidates preferred. You will be traveling from Camrose to work with our pipeline team in Valemont, BC.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a 45-ton and/or 70-ton Picker Truck and associated equipment in a safe, professional and responsible manner
- Load, unload and safely secure cargo as required
- Communicate effectively with swampers/riggers, supervision and other crew members
- Perform pre-operational inspections including hazard assessments, calculating crane capabilities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting
- Complete relevant paperwork as required by National Safety Code and legal standards in an accurate and timely manner
- Responsible for loading equipment and properly securing loads in a manner that ensures compliance with weight restrictions and government regulations
- To complete job tasks with personal and public safety as a top priority
- Maintain and clean and organized work environment
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years experience operating large picker trucks
- Alberta Journeyman Crane and Hoisting Operator
- Valid Class 1 drivers’ license & must provide commercial driver’s abstract
- Maintain legal driver’s logs using ELD’s (Electronic logging)
- Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Willing to work away from home for extended periods of time
- Experience lifting buildings and tandem lifts is considered an asset
- Experience driving in a mountainous setting is an asset
