Job Description:

We are seeking a self-motivated Truck & Transport Technician with a strong customer focus to join our team as a Mobile Service Technician. This role will be based in Fort McMurray but will involve regular travel. The ideal candidate should excel in communication, work effectively in a fast-paced setting, and demonstrate the ability to work independently. This role has a shift pattern on 14 days on and 14 off. Please note that this position involves field service work, and may require travel throughout Western Canada, and candidates must be available to travel on short notice.

Job Description and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs on site mechanical support to new and existing customer locations in assigned territory to diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance to diesel engines, transmissions, rear ends, differentials, electrical/electronics, power systems, hydraulic systems, and other service work as required
  • Initiates service calls with new customers and sources leads to generate sales in the Service Department
  • Documents all service activity, parts and consumables used, communicates with Service Advisors for billing purposes, orders parts for equipment repairs, and completes time records
  • Completes all maintenance and repair activities in a safe manner and ensures work area is clean and organized according to company policies and procedures
  • Responds by telephone, in person, and e-mail to customer technical inquiries, issues, and concerns in an effective, timely, and professional manner
  • Sustains a regular maintenance schedule for equipment, tools, and service truck including oil changes, truck washes, interior detailing, and other maintenance as required
  • Conducts business on behalf of Stahl Peterbilt in a professional manner and represents Stahl Peterbilt culture to ensure fulfillment of company vision and values; assists with successful implementation of major company programs and initiatives

Employment Qualifications:

  • MX and Cummins certified considered an asset
  • Must be a certified Journeyman Truck & Transport Technician
  • Must be available for shift work - 14 on, 14 off
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, Excel, Outlook) and ability to acclimate to PC based order entry system
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with ‘Q’ endorsement and clean drivers abstract is required
  • Ability to travel throughout central Alberta including evenings, weekends, overnight stays, and on call
  • Must have own tools
  • Knowledge of engine and gear repair, experience with computer diagnostics, and excellent trouble shooting skills are assets
  • 1-2 years experience as a mobile technician is preferred but negotiable
  • Must exhibit excellent verbal communication skills, as well as ability to organize and manage time appropriately
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and criminal record check prior to hiring
