Morning Baker and Prep Cook
We are seeking a passionate experience Baker and Prep Cook to help our kitchen manager with our morning bake and menu preparation. You will be responsible for preparing daily baked goods such as muffins, cookies, squares and other desserts as well as preparing our menu needs such as chicken, bacon, guac and other savory items. Successful cooks should have a strong understanding of baking and cooking techniques such as ingredients, as well as the ability to follow recipes accurately. They must also be detail-oriented, have good time management skills, and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Measuring and mixing ingredients according to recipes
- Shaping dough and Preparing baked goods for baking
- Operating and maintaining baking equipment
- Decorating and presenting finished products
- Monitoring food inventory and ordering supplies as needed
- Adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborating with other staff members to ensure timely delivery of orders
- Maintaining a clean and organized work station
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Formal culinary training or experience as a baker
- Knowledge of baking techniques and ingredients
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and constantly
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy bags of flour or sugar
Certificates:
- Certification in food handling - required
- First aid
Further day to day responsibilities:
- Ensuing all daily baked items are ready for 8 am / opening
- Maintaining pair levels on all standard baked items everyday
- Checking sweet case and re stocking as needed throughout the day and before leaving
- Controlling waste
- Maintaining kitchen dishes
- Keeping station clean and organized throughout the day and end of day
Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Seasonal, Apprenticeship, Internship / Co-op
Salary: $15.50-$18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 18 – 25 per week
