Job description

The Danish Canadian National Museum is located in Dickson, Alberta and tells the story of the Danish Canadian experience from the Vikings at L'Anse aux Meadows to present day. Located on 14 acres of grounds, the site includes three historic buildings, two reproduction buildings, a replica Viking ship, formal gardens, walking paths, the Saga Cafe and gift shop. The Museum is an immersive experience allowing visitors to step into the saga and learn about Danish culture and history.

The Danish Canadian National Museum is situated on 14 acres. It includes walking trails, formal flower and rose gardens, a pioneer/kitchen garden, parking lot, three heritage buildings, two replica buildings and large number of interpretive signs and displays throughout the property. The groundskeeper would be responsible for tasks such as mowing the lawns, setting up tents, planting and watering flowers, weeding, maintaining paths, benches, picnic tables and cleaning/maintenance of out-buildings, interpretive signs, and displays. The groundskeeper will assist in the setup of the grounds for special events, weddings, and special bookings. The groundskeeper is responsible to perform a weekly safety walk-through of the entire grounds and report any issues to the Chair of the Maintenance and Development Committee.

The successful candidate will be eligible for Canada Summer Jobs funding. Summer Staff will start on approximately May 10 and be employed for 8 or 16 weeks. Employment is reliant on grant funding.
