What You’ll Do:
The National Technical Claims Specialist is a subject matter expert on all things claims. Under the guidance of the Vice President Claims, and with the input of the Branch Claims Manager, The National Technical Claims Specialist identifies, researches, implements and documents initiatives geared towards operational development opportunities. They work with the Information Technology team to implement system enhancements or troubleshoot system defects acting as the primary liaison with the Claims team, maintain and update the Claims Best Practices Manual, participate in claims vendor management, assist with Corporate Claims Audits and departmental file and reserve reviews, and understand claims data for reporting to the Vice President Claims.
Additional value would be provided through participation in wording development, claims trending research, claims training preparation and implementation, legal opinion library development and, any additional task as assigned by the Vice President Claims.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate discussion sessions with Claims Manager team members to discuss processes in each branch.
  • Create department Best Practice Manual for review.
  • Monitor for ongoing changes and update manuals accordingly.
  • Identify training needs and implement training programs either directly or facilitating outside training partners.
  • Triage all Claim Center defect and enhancement tickets to attempt resolution of issue.
  • Participate in major claims technology enhancements either Claim Center related or other and assist with scoping and testing as required.
  • Tabulate quarterly and annual results, identify trends, present results and work with managers to implement necessary training or process development.
  • Prepare and maintain a review system that allows for objective scoring of claim file quality.
  • Participate in development of policy wordings.
  • Complete miscellaneous trending research at direction of Vice President Claims.
Requirements:
  • Candidates must reside in Canada and be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in claims adjusting or ten (10) years other related insurance experience.
  • Experience in all lines of insurance.
  • Very strong understanding of Guidewire Claim Center or strong ability to learn new software programs quickly.
  • Knowledge of policy wordings and the ability to resolve disputes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • CIP designation or nearing completion.
  • Post secondary education preferred (business, agriculture, or insurance).
