Night Shunt/Yard Labourer

Position Summary

An employee will be assigned numerous tasks to complete each day, but their primary role will include moving company trailers to loading docks, parking trailers in the company yard, refueling company trucks, and outdoor maintenance of the building.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Shunt trailers using the company equipment to transport trailers as soon as possible to reduce waiting times,

• Wash trucks and trailers when required – including acid washing,

• Complete temperature alarm checks for trailers given by dispatch or QA,

• General cleanliness of yard and outside of building. Remove old skids, wood, debris from the outside of the garage doors and building in general,

• Check fuel levels of loaded, running trailers twice a day, storage trailers or small tank trailers need to be filled before end, of shift.

• Setting temp, install temperature controlled bulk head.

• Daily situation reports jobs completed in your shift at work.

There will be other duties assigned once individual is familiar with companies’ policies and procedures.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid G license
• D-Z Endorsement is a big asset
• Must have experience driving shunt truck, pulling 52ft. trailer
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position the majority of the time
• Must be able to work with little supervision
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
• Must be able to enter and exit the vehicle and trailer properly multiple times a day
• Must be able to properly and clearly fill out Skelton internal documentation
• Must be able to pass drug test
• Clear criminal background check
• Quick-learner
• Excellent attitude
• Punctual

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Required to spend large percentage of day outdoors.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy environment.
• Weather conditions include snow, rain, wind, hot and cold temperatures.

Salary: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 45 per week
