Risktec Solutions are looking for talented engineers who are graduating or are recently graduated, who are passionate about the Nuclear Industry and are driven to work and learn valuable engineering skills. This position is for a Graduate level Engineer to work as part of a team of engineers / consultants providing support to the North American Nuclear Industry.
Disciplines Considered
We will consider engineers who are graduating, or have graduated in the following or related disciplines at minimum BEng or BSc level;

  • Physics and Chemistry;
  • Nuclear Engineering;
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering;
  • C&I Control and Instrumentation;
  • Mechanical Engineering;
  • Chemical Engineering.

Role Description
You will be expected to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues on multiple projects and will develop a good understanding of the technical, engineering and operational issues fundamental to safety and risk management. You will gain experience of a broad range of activities including:

  • Nuclear safety
  • Safety assessment and consequence analysis
  • Risk analysis
  • Application of technical safety and risk management fundamentals across diverse industries, including Oil & Gas, Clean Energy and Transportation
  • Business development and client relations
  • Supporting facilitation and recording of technical workshops

The role will likely involve some travel within North America to clients and / or to other Risktec offices across the world. Whilst the focus of the role is the Nuclear industry, there may be the potential to work in our other industry sectors, including clean energy, transportation and oil and gas.
Key Responsibilities

  • Under the guidance of the relevant Technical Leads / Project Managers, deliver nuclear safety and risk management consultancy services to time, budget and quality;
  • Prioritisation of tasks based on business and client needs;
  • Support bid development and business development activities;
  • Produce high quality written work (e.g. technical reports);
  • Demonstrate willingness to gain experience and develop as a consultant;
  • Set high personal standards;
  • Take personal responsibility for your own professional development, supported by your Team Leader and the company’s Professional Development Review (PDR) process;
  • Adhere to Quality Assurance (QA) procedures.

Key Skills / Knowledge

  • Work planning and organisation;
  • Listening and communicating clearly;
  • Technical report writing;
  • Numeracy and quantitative analysis;
  • Use of standard software tools (e.g. MS Office);
  • Nuclear industry knowledge (desirable);
  • Safety Assessments (desirable);
  • Risk Engineering (desirable).

Other Requirements

  • This opportunity has high visibility and maintains a valuable profile for us through which you will form part of our client facing team as such, excellent interpersonal and written skills are required.
  • It is desirable that you have your own transport / clean driving license.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Travel and Location
This role is primarily to be based at our offices in Calgary, Alberta, office noting that there may be some opportunity for hybrid working arrangements. As the role is to support the North American Industry, visits to site may be required, therefore it is desirable that you have your own transport / clean driving license.
