Non-Union Level 10 - $61,240 - $76 ,549

The TCDSB is proud to be a significant part of the fabric of publicly funded Catholic education in the province of Ontario. We serve approximately 84,000 students in nearly 200 Catholic schools in the City of Toronto and represent close to 475,000 Catholic school supporters.

With a staff of 14,000, the Toronto Catholic is a dynamic school board and is seeking one (1) temporary Officer, Capital Development.

TCDSB Capital Development works with students and families, teachers and staff, consultants and contractors to provide safe, sustainable and supportive environments for learning. The team is responsible for managing the design and construction of all new schools, building additions, childcare centres and outdoor learning spaces. We work to create responsive learning environments that engage and care for students and provide opportunities that inspire curiosity, reflection, collaboration, lifelong learning and leadership.

Many of our staff are licensed members of the Ontario Association of Architects and support the OAA’s role in promoting public appreciation of architecture and the allied arts and sciences, by promoting and improving public institutional architecture through the design of our schools. Currently our Capital Program consists of hundreds of millions of dollars of new Capital construction, with designs by some of Canada’s most renowned architects.

CRITERIA FOR AN INTERVIEW:

  • Minimum two-yearcollegediploma in Architectural or Engineering Technology, Facility Management, Building Sciences, Project Management or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimumoftwo (2)yearsof related experiencein supporting facilities management, architecture, engineering or construction projects
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and working with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in the design or construction of schools or other institutional buildings is an asset
  • Knowledge of construction project budgeting and scheduling would be an asset
  • Knowledgeof consultant and construction contracts andtendering procedures would be an asset
  • Knowledge of project management software such as SAP, EBase or Procore would be an asset
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communicationskills
  • Proficiencywitha range of current software programs andapplicationsincludingMS Office
  • Availability to work outside core office hours, as required

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to and under the direction of Architectural Supervisors, the primary function of this position is to assist in the timelydeliveryofmultiple capital projects and other facilities services initiatives.Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to thefollowing:

  • Provide support in the procurement of consultants and contractors and the reviewing of contract document
  • Coordination of Information and documentation between Contractors, Consultants, School Communities and Authorities having Jurisdiction in the delivery of Capital Projects
  • Track and monitor capital project schedules and project budgets
  • Perform tasks related to the administration of construction contracts such as tracking the review and approval of Change Orders, Certificates of Payment and Prompt Payment requests
  • Review design, construction and tender documents for procurement and contract administration
  • Prepare and distribute project status information
  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the department’s project management database
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of building design standards
  • Liaise with operations and maintenance staff
  • Prepare reports and communications as required
  • Other duties as assigned

NOTE: Requires wearing of appropriate and current safety equipment (safety shoes, hard hat) for TCDSB constructionsites.

This position requires travelling to TCDSB site. The incumbent must have access to a vehicle and a valid Ontario driver’s license (eligibility for mileage reimbursement).

The position may require call-out beyond regular work-day/week schedule due to emergencies, or necessity to participate in a rotating call-out schedule.
