B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, a mine under construction in northern Canada and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland. B2Gold forecasts total consolidated gold production of between 860,000 and 940,000 ounces in 2024.


Position


Oil Burner Technician, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Supervisor, Site Services Trades, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the repair and maintenance of waste oil / diesel heaters and HVAC systems;
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning Oil Burners, layout and assemble Oil Burner heating system components, test installed units, and adjust controls for proper functioning;
  • Complete of work order forms, detailing work performed, and materials used, assist in inventory and stock control, and compiling of supply order;
  • Provide final inspections of systems once repairs are completed to ensure all equipment is operating safely;
  • Install furnaces, AC units, tankless water heaters, boilers, ductless mini splits, and heat pumps;
  • Troubleshoot and maintain boiler systems used for emulsion plant systems;
  • Coordinate with other trades within the department when necessary to perform preventive maintenance of fixed plant systems;
  • Perform other maintenance related duties related to fixed plant heating, and cooling systems; and
  • Ensure and maintain a safe working environment according to B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures.

Desired Competencies and Requirements


  • Gas and Oil Burner Technician 2 certification required , Journeyman Oil Burner Mechanic Journeyperson ticket preferred, with preference given to those with arctic experience in a remote site with limited resources;
  • Certification in leak testing and gas detection or equivalent;
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal relation skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel,
  • Must be a self-starter possessing a proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet scheduled deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $146,068.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $53.00 and overtime rate of $79.50) in a work year.

B2Gold Nunavut offers a competitive compensation package, including salary commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills, plus a group benefits package for employees and their dependents.
