One-one-one dog walker

Bronte Pet Services is a professional, respected pet services company looking to add to our team. We provide one-on-one dog walks, cat visits, and overnight care. We are seeking a part-time dog walker for established clients in Vancouver (Mount Pleasant and Commercial Drive areas).

We are looking for a responsible, active individual who would like to spend part of their day outdoors with four-legged friends. Our client base is varied (large breeds, small breeds, puppies, seniors, reactive/ special needs dogs). Our ideal candidate would be familiar with positive reinforcement training and have an interest in continued learning about dog behaviour.

Most dog walks are Monday - Friday, with peak hours between 10am - 2pm. We are looking for someone who is available at least three days a week during this timeframe. We are open to working around school, work, childcare or other commitments as long as there is reasonable and consistent availability. If it's a good fit, there is the possibility of this converting into a full-time position.

Requirements

--Experienced with and comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and breeds.
--Comfortable managing behaviour issues such as pulling on leash, leash reactivity, and prey drive/reactivity to other animals. Extensive training is provided.
--High degree of professionalism and able to follow guidelines on care.
--Able to travel around our service area quickly and efficiently. Having a car of your own is preferred, but bike, e-bike, or scooter commuting can work. Transit is not a viable option due to the need to get between client locations quickly.
--Looking for a longer term, part-time, flexible working situation. This position would start with 10-20 walks per week on average. If it is a good fit, it is likely that this position could become full-time. We like to offer our clients continuity, so a minimum of six months commitment is requested, with a year being ideal.
--We are fully insured and pride ourselves on our high standard of care. We are licensed, insured, and provide WorkSafe coverage and liability insurance coverage for our team members.

Walkers will be asked to provide references, pass a Criminal Record Check, undergo paid training, and obtain Canine First Aid certification if they do not already have it.
