Position Overview
The Online ResourcesCommunications Summer Student is responsible for the creation of online content and resources found on the Lambton County Archives, Lambton Heritage Museum and Oil Museum of Canada website. The primary objective of this position is to digitize archival materials, exhibits and collections items to be used in the online space. The incumbent will update, create and design pages within the website that comply with branding standards. The student will also watermark images and design graphics to support the webpages.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist communications staff in the development of Online Resources through the website for archival materials, exhibits and collections items.
- Create, edit and design webpages.
- Insert watermarks on images to protect the copyright of collection items.
- Create graphics to support the branding and corporate standards of online exhibits and collections.
- Identify opportunities for online engagement within the functionality of the website.
Digitization:
- Digitization of historic images and artifacts for use in online exhibits, blog posts and other website pages.
- Transcribe collections items to be used in a digital format.
- Incumbents must keep up-to-date on all relevant legislation, collective bargaining agreements, County Policies and Procedures, etc. ensuring that these are implemented as prescribed
- Incumbents must possess the physical ability to meet the duties and responsibilities of the job description and/or the requirements identified within the position's Physical Demands Analysis.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a marketing, communications, or web-based user experience (UX/UI) program at University or College.
- Must be returning to school in upcoming school year.
Experience
- Experience using design software, particularly the Abode Creative Suite, would be an asset.
- An interest or knowledge of local history is an asset.
