Operations Technical Support Worker (Student Internship)

• This position will assist in the preparation and maintenance of classrooms, equipment, props, and the training field. They will assist instructors with field operations including running fuel, equipment maintenance, and other special projects. Additionally, this position will assist with outside contracts as a Liaison. This will involve training field setup, course work, safety, cylinder filling, and contract cleanup. They will also help the Tech Services staff with any other related Emergency Training Centre duties.
• Duties will also include the operation of live fire fueling systems, prop and equipment preparation, filling breathing/apparatus cylinders, helping with contract clean-up, assisting with evaluations, etc.

• A valid class 3 driver’s license would be an asset but must have a valid class 5 driver’s license with Airbrake Endorsement.
• Ability to work independently, be well organized, and be detail oriented are critical.
• A background in Firefighting and Pumping Operations would be an asset. A strong mechanical aptitude would also be an asset.
• Training will be provided as required. Compliance with our Safety System is Mandatory.

This is a Full-time temporary AUPE appointment on the Vermilion campus commencing April 2, 2024 and ending October 25, 2024.
