Ophthalmic Technician

Job description

We seek a skilled & qualified Ophthalmic Technician to join a team of eye care professionals in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Checking vision and eye pressure
• Taking slit lamp and fundus photos
• Performing auto refraction as well as pachymetry and topography
• Performing diagnostic testing including Humphrey visual field testing, OCT testing, UWF testing, etc.
• Performing biometry measurements for pre-operative patients including A scan and IOL Master
• Assisting with patient management including pre-charting and answering simple patient queries
• Ensuring sanitized lanes by wiping down rooms and equipment between patients
• Assisting in loading patients into rooms and opening the patient chart
• Ensuring lanes are fully stocked at beginning of day, and in orderly condition at end of day

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Excellent patient service skills
• IOL measurements
• OCT imaging, Corneal topography
• Working Experience with slit lamp/Applanation Tonometery is an asset.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to work and enjoy working in a high volume fast paced environment without compromising patient care or customer service
• Accuracy and attention to detail, both with charting and when taking patient measurements
• Comfortable with technologies such as EMR and digital imaging suite
• Comfortable with advanced diagnostic equipment
• Can work well and take instruction as part of a team, but can also work independently and with minimal supervision

Salary: $28.00-$35.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

• Certified Ophthalmic Technician (preferred)
