The Opportunity

Under the administrative direction of the Manager, Pediatric Perioperative Services, the O.R. Booking Clerk is responsible for coordinating and managing all activities necessary to ensure the efficient and effective utilization of operating room time and services for optimum patient flow; including the booking and scheduling of patients for all Perioperative Services. The Booking Clerk also supplies statistics, interpretation and formulation and utilization studies for the Pediatric Perioperative program. This position supports the Pediatric Operating Room.

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:00 or 8:30 – 4:30. Days and hours are subject to change based on operational requirements.

Your Qualifications


  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate from a recognized Office Administration Program required. A combination of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of one (1) year related administrative experience required, two (2) years preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer data input, retrieval information and interpretation required (testing required).
  • Keyboarding skills minimum of 40 wpm required, 60 wpm is preferred (testing may be conducted on candidates)
  • Experience with OR Management software/programs required
  • Knowledge of SAP an asset
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology required
  • Working knowledge of Medical System Management (MSM)
  • Working knowledge of Meditech
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills and initiative.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Must be flexible to meet workload demands.
  • Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to respectfully work with a variety of inter-professional team members required
  • High degree of initiative, diligence, attention to detail, and self-discipline/focus
  • Commitment to continual learning and willing to share knowledge and support the development of co-workers
  • Demonstrated commitment to Family Centred Care required
  • Excellent multi-tasking, organizational and prioritization skills required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
