SUMMARY

Morton Food Service (a division of Morton Wholesale Ltd.) has an immediate opening and is looking for career-minded, reliable, dedicated, and motivated Order Assemblers to join our dynamic night shift. An Order Assembler is responsible for ensuring the accurate and seamless processing of outgoing shipments using voice recognition. This position requires repetitive heavy lifting and the use of any necessary equipment (reach truck, ride-on pallet jack, etc). The Order Assembler must understand the importance of this position and how it directly affects other business functions that depend on efficiency, accuracy, attendance, and punctuality. This position runs Sunday starting at 7:00 pm and Monday to Thursday starting at 6:30 pm. The completion of the shift varies and depends on staffing, volume, and seasonality.

ROLES & RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Shift preparation – employee to ensure all voice handheld, printer (Voxware Equipment) and pallet jack is in working order and no safety issues present.
  • Attendance is mandatory at pre-shift meetings to ensure any updated procedures or general information is communicated.
  • Assemble customer orders by order/by route using voice equipment; picking product from identified bins and place orders on skid following established skid procedures.
  • Ensure that all labels are affixed to the product as required and record any issues necessary using voice recognition equipment per standard procedures.
  • Weigh and record weighted items accurately.
  • If inventory in bin is depleted Order Assembler may be required to replenish product if available in overstock.
  • Order Assembler must mark materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
  • Duties must be performed in accordance with organizational safety standards.
  • Adheres to all Preferred Work Methods and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Employees must understand and ensure they comply with all Morton policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment, perform pre- and post- inspections.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in materials and product.
  • Sort and place materials & product in predetermined locations as required.
  • Ensure the distribution center is accessible and safe for employee, customer and/or visitor traffic.
  • Organize and clean distribution center and work area to achieve a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • Employee must maintain an acceptable level of production and accuracy while selecting food-service orders within various environments of fluctuating temperatures, including dry, cooler and freezer.
  • Loads pallets in accordance with proper selecting procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Experience in a warehouse environment a must
  • Shipping and receiving experience a definite asset
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Organizational, time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong work ethic, attendance, punctuality and positive team attitude

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Overtime as required
  • End of shift will depend on volume, seasonality and staffing
  • Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs frequently
  • This position may be exposed to elements such as noise, dust, odours, fumes and oils
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling

Salary: $18.00-$19.00 per hour + Incentive
