Applications are invited for the position of Outreach Coordinator with Thrive’s Educational Initiatives. The Educational Initiatives provide instruction in both foundation literacy and numeracy, as well as GED preparation for youth ages 16 to 30 in the St. John’s area.
As an Outreach Coordinator you are creative in your work with youth who have struggled to find success in the traditional education system. You are able to use your skills to create a safe environment that respects a diversity of life experiences and have a passion for education as a tool for social justice. As the Outreach Coordinator you responsible for providing support to youth in the Education Program as well as on the waitlist - focusing on every young person’s potential to learn be successful.
Duties include:
- Overseeing intake process and maintain waitlist;
- Providing individual support to youth to address non-academic issues;
- Supporting the development of transition plans for youth leaving the program;
- Oversee referrals to external services;
- Provide crisis interventions and system navigation
Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in a social science
· 3 years’ experience working with vulnerable/marginalized populations
· Any experience in an education setting would be considered an asset
· Demonstrated commitment to community development approaches that are strengths based, collaborative, and embrace harm reduction principles.
Compensation & Benefits: Starting salary for this position is $57 200.00 plus an excellent benefits package
