Who we are

We invite you to join the Mount Carleton Provincial Park Team! Mount Carleton is one of the largest natural sites in New Brunswick, located in the north-west of the province.

A picturesque blend of Acadian forests and mountain peaks, Mount Carleton contains over 17, 000 hectares of wilderness waiting for today's explorers.

A provincial park since 1970, containing the highest peak in the Maritimes, a part of the Appalachian Mountains, including hiking trails, camping, fishing, and a designated Dark Sky Preserve are all part of what awaits you.

What you will do

Reporting to the Executive Director of Parks and Capital, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of Mount Carleton. Your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Developing and implementing operations plans
• Providing overall leadership and guidance to a team responsible for the operations of Mount Carleton to ensure exceptional client experience and service delivery
• Overseeing all day-to-day operations and maintenance of the site, including food and beverage services, accommodations and hospitality services, guiding services and customer service
• Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders throughout the community
• Developing and maintaining relationships with critical stakeholders

In collaboration with Tourism, Heritage and Culture at head office, you will also assist with the following duties:

• Managing human resources including staffing, scheduling, recruiting, training, conflict resolution, collective agreement administration and performance management
• Developing capital maintenance budgets and managing capital maintenance projects and strategic initiatives
• Directing all aspects of the visitor experience and dealing with issues escalated for resolution
• Overseeing and directing special events and programming within the park
• Managing relationships with third-party contractors, associations, organizations, and neighboring communities and municipalities


Work Environment

• Office location: Main entrance, Mount Carleton Provincial Park
• Regular work hours are 36.25 per week, including holidays, evenings and weekends as required
• Some travel throughout the province

Who you are

You are experienced in successfully operating a hospitality, food and beverage property and maintaining its financial viability while exceeding client expectations. You have knowledge and experience in the outdoor sector. You demonstrate strong leadership with your team and can work remotely with minimal supervision. You also possess strong interpersonal, communication skills and are self-motivated.

Your skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have

• A University degree and a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience which includes two (2) years of hospitality, food and beverage management experience; or a post-secondary diploma of two (2) years in Business Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, Parks and Recreation or a related field and a minimum of seven (7) years of related work experience which includes two (2) years of management experience
• Considerable experience in using Microsoft Office 365 software and applications
• Considerable experience and knowledge in the Outdoor experience sector
• Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
• Written and spoken competence in English and in French is required

Nice to have

• Experience in the tourism industry
• Experience in marketing and developing experiences
• Experience in developing community partnerships and initiatives
• Knowledge of the history of Mount Carleton Provincial Park

Wage

$2,402.00 to $3,355.00 bi-weekly (Pay Band 5)
