The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Parks Operations Team Lead to join our team to coordinate labour, equipment, materials & contractors to ensure high quality year-round maintenance levels and customer service standards for the Town’s parks and cemetery. Reporting to the Parks Manager, the Team Lead is responsible for:

  • Providing technical leadership, as well as assigning resources and priorities related to turf maintenance, sport field maintenance, natural areas, arboriculture, horticulture, extension services, parks amenities, pathways maintenance, natural area manage, and alternative landscape opportunities;
  • Providing day-to-day seasonal work plans and coordinating team responsibilities;
  • Developing processes and preventative maintenance plans, audits, data analysis and reporting requirements;
  • Being proficient in cemetery operations and associated administrative procedures
  • Asset management, inspections, and year-round maintenance for all parks and cemetery assets;
  • Ensuring tasks are completed using approved environmental guidelines and ensuring all staff are competently trained on applicable equipment;
  • Purchasing materials and overseeing contracted services;
  • Assisting the manager with creating and reviewing business centre reports and schedules; and
  • Coordinating maintenance work with colleagues and cross-functional teams;


What You Bring

A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify. A typical way to qualify is equivalency to completion of a University
(Bachelor) program. This training is often recognized by a degree in Landscape design and construction, Horticulture, Agriculture, Turf Management, Natural or Environmental Resources Management or Project management planning, plus:

  • Minimum Class 5 license with Q endorsement, with no more than 6 demerit points, no suspensions or pending suspension required;
  • Six or more years related work experience representing continuous learning and career progression, including at least 2 year of direct supervision and leadership/mentorship experience;
  • Proven strong leadership and performance management; communication skills, both verbal and written; and, the ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with public, staff and other stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of the Town’s operations and OH&S Guidelines are an asset.
