As a Parks Program Ambassador, you will play a key role in the delivery of programs and services intended to enhance Calgarians' and visitor's enjoyment, appreciation, connection and stewardship of our City's parks and greenspaces. You will be responsible for providing front-line delivery of Recreation and Social Programs' programs and services in the form of instructional programs, volunteer initiatives, public engagement, events, and learning activities. Primary duties include:

  • Provide program supports by organizing logistics and delivering program content and materials.
  • Review Program outlines and required materials and equipment including transporting resources to locations as required.
  • Respond to questions from the public and program participants.
  • Monitor program supplies and equipment, order and purchase required materials.
  • Record and submit program statistics and evaluations.

 
Qualifications 
  • A completed 2 year diploma in a relevant area such as Public Relations, Education, Recreation, Environmental Science, Communication, Ecotourism and at least 1 year of experience in a related area is required.
  • Previous experience in community, recreation, park programming or school programming is required.
  • Current Standard First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits (OR a valid Graduated Driver's Licence (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits) and no current charges or suspensions pending is required.
  • Ability to obtain City of Calgary operator's permit is required.
  • You have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to be an effective team member.
  • You have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

 
Pre-employment Requirements 
  • A security clearance will be conducted. 
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
 
Pre-employment Drug Test:An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.

Compensation: Pay Grade 6 $31.30 - 41.86 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day 
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle. 
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
