About the position
We're looking for someone to perform carry-outs and help in the Garden Centre of our Stellarton Home Hardware store. When it's busy, you'll be loading customers' cars with bags of soil and mulch (and other things too). During other times, you'll be watering plants, cleaning up, or helping our seasonal staff with various other tasks. All applicants must be fully available for shifts starting on May 1st.
Key Responsibilities:
-Loading/unloading customer`s vehicles, ensuring that the proper product is given according to the customer's invoice. Always verify the customers have a paid invoice before loading their vehicle.
-Customer carry-outs inside the store/outside garden center as required.
-Keep the area around the pallets of soil, mulches, etc. neat and clean at all times. This includes sweeping the parking lot around the pallets, cutting away plastic from pallets, keeping the stock on pallets stacked neatly (stack if necessary), always having a pallet of each item opened, making sure that all pallets have proper signs that look good and that have accurate pricing. Replace any missing signs.
-Any pallet items that need to be tarped are kept covered and covered at the end of each shift. (pelletized lime)
-Help with the outside garden center, sweeping, on cash, watering plants, filling, and facing stock.
-Help unload plant trucks and display the new stock in the greenhouse
Requirements:
-Able to lift 75lbs
-Able to work in a variety of weather conditions, rain, wind, heat/humidity, and cold.
-Cash training is required
-Forklift training may be required.
-Assemblies as required (wheelbarrows, rakes, furniture, firepits, barbeques etc.)
-A knowledge and love of plants and flowers would be considered an asset.
