Part-Time Positions in School of Education (EXTERNAL)
St. Thomas University invites applications for an instructor to teach the following course in
Fredericton for the School of Education.
Term 3 (May 15 – June 26, 2024):
EDUC-5243-A Early Years Education: Contemporary Theory & Practice. (T 4:00 PM -
6:50 PM/TH 8:30 – 11:20am). This is an education course intended primarily for elementary
education students. The purpose of the course is to introduce educators to contemporary thinking
about and educational practice with young children. The course examines and focuses on how
children play, relate, live and learn in early years educational settings. The participants in the
course will further investigate theories and practice fundamental to early years education through
observation and documentation. Class members will also design and implement purposeful
projects for use with young children in pre- school and primary settings. (Maximum enrolment:
60)
St. Thomas University is an undergraduate, liberal arts institution with a full-time enrolment of
1,600. Its students graduate with Bachelor of Arts, Applied Arts, Education, and Social Work
degrees. The faculty members are distinguished teachers, researchers and scholars, and the
university holds two Canada Research Chairs.
An MEd, BEd, and a NB teaching license (or equivalent) are required. Recent school-based K-12
classroom teaching or administrative experience within the last five years is required. Preference
will be given to candidates with recent experience in K-3 educational contexts and those who
provide evidence supporting their ability to foster a positive learning environment. Each
applicant is to submit a curriculum vitae, along with pertinent documentation (ex. teaching
portfolio etc.) and arrange to have three letters of reference sent directly to Dr. Gemma Porter,
