Position Overview

Come build something great with us. As our next Tax Partner, you’ll have a pivotal role in shaping the future of our practice, where excellence and meaningful connections come together.

We are excited to offer a career opportunity for an experienced Tax Partner in our Toronto offices. In this role, you will champion leadership, growth, and development within our Domestic Tax practice. Your responsibilities include client experience, business growth, and team leadership, coaching and empowering others to reach their professional aspirations. Together, fostering a dynamic and motivating team environment.


As a Partner in Domestic Tax, you’ll have the flexibility to build your practice and leverage your entrepreneurial mindset. Your contribution will drive the growth of our tax practice, allowing you to deliver a personalized approach to each client’s business. Whether providing practical advice tailored to their unique business needs or guiding organizations through the complexities of Canadian Tax requirements, your expertise will make a significant difference through personalized tax planning and advisory services.


As a Partner with Grant Thornton, you have an opportunity to:

  • Own a key leadership position in expanding, managing, and developing the Domestic Tax practice in Toronto, that aligns with, and supported by, the firm’s strategic initiatives for growth.
  • You have autonomy in your role and be entrusted to run a business
  • Mentor, coach, and develop the next generation of leaders
  • Champion the growth, management, and development of our Privately Held Company Practice for Southern Ontario Business Unit
  • You’ll have the opportunity to cross-collaborate with GT Canada Tax Partners and Partners from various service lines (Assurance, Advisory and Specialty Tax), sub-service lines, sectors, and regions to provide a comprehensive suite of solutions aimed to optimize the entirety of a client’s business value

Key Requirements

Education

Completion of Bachelor or advanced level degree (Masters) in related field: Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, Law, and/or Taxation.

Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Designation and completed CICA In-depth Tax level I-III training.

Experience and Attributes

  • 10+ years’ experience in public accounting or related industry
  • Significant tax planning and compliance experience including an in-depth understanding of Canadian Corporate taxation matters
  • Demonstrated experience growing a practice and business development which focuses on development of relationships and actively anticipating client and market needs
  • Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to be an active participant in the development of the tax team
  • Develop solutions with clients and co-workers through collaborative effort and discussion
  • Commitment to quality, excellence, and continual professional growth for yourself and for those you lead
  • Excellent written, and verbal communication skills, including exceptional interpersonal skills to earn the trust and confidence of clients and colleagues at all levels and influence decision-makers
  • Desire to learn and grow, and be an integral part of a team that puts “we before me”, where flexibility is a mindset, and where you trust your colleagues to have your back
