The Big Picture First Baptist Church (firstbaptistolds.ca) (500 attendees ) is seeking a Student and Young Adults Pastor who will lead and oversee the ministry of Studentsand Young Adults at First Baptist Church.

The Church

By the Lord’s grace and faithfulness, the church has grown to a congregation of 500+, meeting in two Sunday morning services. Our congregation is comprised of a wide range of members and attendees ranging from single adults to young families to seniors. This demographic is very reflective of the wider community of Olds. Our church leadership structure is an “Elder-led” leadership board with separate Deacons’ groups overseeing various aspects of church ministry. All pastors are members of the Elders’ board.

Our mission at First Baptist Church is “to reproduce disciples of Jesus Christ in Olds and around the world who have a passion for God and a love for all people.” The church’s outreach includes Sunday School for adults and children, small group Bible studies, JOY Fellowship for seniors, Grief Share, Divorce Care, youth events, outreach to college students at Olds College, AWANA, and summer day camp programs for children, as well as partnering with missions in Canada and overseas. The Community First Baptist Church is located in Olds, Alberta, just one hour north of Calgary and approximately forty-five minutes south of Red Deer. The Town of Olds has a population of 10,000+, various school options, including a K-12 Christian school, and is home to Olds College. Our community also has many amenities usually only available in larger centers.

Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Pastor ofStudent and Young Adult Ministries. As a Pastor of Student and Young Adult Ministires, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people and help them grow in their faith. This is a rewarding position that requires strong leadership skills, the ability to educate and inspire, and effective communication abilities.

Responsibilities:

1) Junior and Senior High Ministries The Pastor ofStudent and Young Adult Ministries will oversee this area of ministry by:

● Initiating, organizing and implementing ministry to the junior and senior high age group;

● Coordinating and providing leadership for youth events and Bible studies;

● Recruiting, training and overseeing youth leaders;

● Facilitating the integration of Students into the wider church ministry;

● Promoting youth events to the church and community;

● Working in cooperation with other outside ministries;

● Initiating, organizing and training youth and youth workers in evangelism.

2) Young Adult Ministries The Pastor ofStudent and Young Adult Ministries will oversee this area of ministry by:

● Initiating, organizing and implementing ministry to the Young Adult age group, including students at Olds College;

● Facilitate the integration of Young Adults into the wider church ministry.

3) Visitation and Care for Students and Their Families The Pastor ofStudent and Young Adult Ministries will oversee this area of ministry by:

● Being available to counsel youth, Young Adults and their families or to refer them for counselling;

● Engaging in personal visitation of youth, Young Adults and their families;

● Engaging in personal visitation of new families with youth with an eye to integrating new youth into the church family and youth group.

The Pastor ofStudent and Young Adult Ministries will:

● Work in co-operation with the Lead Pastor and the pastoral staff to accomplish the goals of the church under the supervision of the Board of Elders (the Board);

● Work in co-operation with the Pastor of Children and Family Ministries to ensure that ministry is directed to families from birth to Young Adulthood;

● Report monthly to the Board on the work of the Student & Young Adult Ministries; Adopted by the Membership: November 24, 2016

● Fulfill other pastoral duties, as a member of the pastoral staff, as directed by the Board, such as baptisms, weddings and funerals.

● Become a member of First Baptist Church and agree to and uphold its Statement of Faith and Bylaws;

● Sign and adhere to the First Baptist Church Employee Lifestyle Agreement;

● Oversee the preparation and administration of the budget for these ministries.

Requirements:

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate young people

- Excellent public speaking skills to effectively communicate biblical teachings and messages

- Ability to write and present engaging sermons or lessons tailored to a youth audience

- Good interpersonal skills to connect with youth members on a personal level

- Knowledge of hospice care principles is a plus but not required

- A deep understanding of Christian theology and biblical teachings

- Bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or a related field is preferred but not required
