Description:
Reporting to the Payroll Specialist, this position will be primarily responsible for providing the timely and accurate processing of pay for permanent and casual support staff for NLSchools, responding to inquiries, issuing ROE?s and payroll changes for support staff.
Duties include, but are not limited to, inputting and verifying timesheet data, monthly attendance, calculating pay adjustments; issuing ROE's, T4's, and pension reports; calculating and preparing statutory and other remittances, and ensuring the accuracy of earnings, deductions, and taxable benefits; and communicating benefit transfers and terminations to service providers. The Payroll Clerk will also respond to employee inquiries while maintaining the highest standard of confidentiality in the performance of their duties. This position will perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess a detailed knowledge of the full payroll cycle; strong oral and written communication skills; analytical and organizational abilities; as well as the ability to work effectively as a team member. Proficiency with various computer programs is also required. Experience with School Systems (SDS) would be considered a definite asset.
These qualifications would normally be acquired through the completion of a two year Diploma in Business Administration from a recognized College or University combined with recent experience in the provision of computerized payroll services. The completion or near completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) program along with a minimum of 2 years related payroll experience, preferably in a large unionized environment, is required.
