Job Summary:
Working under the supervision of the Payroll Manager; the Payroll Clerk is responsible primarily, but not limited, to ensuring employees are paid by processing timesheets and deductions accurately and efficiently.
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
Payroll Role
- Processing and data entry of bi-weekly time sheets for all identified programs
- Processing of allowances and retroactive payments
- Ensuring compliance with current government regulations and Nation policies
- Distribution of paystubs and statement to identified programs
- Scanning of confidential payroll documents biweekly
- Communicating with Nation and Program Managers regarding payroll concerns when required
- Preparing payroll reports on a biweekly basis for Nations and Program Managers
- Support the preparation of the biweekly remittance to CRA for statutory deductions
Other Duties
- Create and issue payroll assignment letters to vendors for employees
- Data entry of payroll assignments on a bi-weekly basis
- Manage payroll assignment payments bi-weekly
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Education
- CPA Certification and/or HR courses considered an asset
- Knowledge & experience with Payroll/HR software considered an asset
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organization skills
- Able to adhere to deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Outgoing team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to build partnerships with program Managers/Supervisors
- Able to use good judgement and maintain a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity
- Honesty, integrity and reliability
