Payroll / Financial Analyst

Our Opportunity

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a positive attitude to join the Middleton team as a

Payroll / Financial Analyst. You will report to the Director of Finance and ensure efficient water billings and payroll administration processing. The ideal candidate should possess excellent time management skills and meticulous attention to detail. Responsibilities also include handling counter services and addressing general inquiries, requiring effective communication skills.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Process end-to-end bi-weekly payroll for staff and monthly payroll for Council
  • Management of Payroll, including employee files and records, government remittances, ROE’s,

T4’s, T4A’s, general ledger reconciliations for payroll accounts, and any other reporting requirements

  • Administer company pension and benefits plans
  • Ensure Collective Agreement is followed and adhered to
  • Management and oversight of Accounts Receivable, including Water Billings
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Assist Director of Finance with budget preparation and forecasting

We’re hiring a Fulltime
Payroll / Financial Analyst

  • Research, identify and process potential grant opportunities as applicable to the Town
  • Provide support to the Director of Finance to ensure smooth day-to-day office operations
  • Support the year-end financial statement audit
  • When required, manage counter service, process payments, and handle general inquiries
  • Assist Director of Finance with special projects

What we’re looking for:

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma (Business, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, preferably in a similar role
  • Full-cycle payroll experience, including knowledge of payroll regulations and laws
  • Experience with unions (compliance, reporting, and collective agreements)
  • Excellent communication skills with staff and the public
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grants management
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP
  • Municipal experience is an asset
